she's good

the other day i had to talk to miss olivia and let her know since she is a month old (a big girl) mommy will not be holding her all the time, picking her up at every cry or allowing her to still sleep on mommy... she smiled, so i thought the conversation was going well and she understood that it was time for her to be a little more independent........... little did i know, she was smiling because she knew there was another sucker in the house.....

good mommy, bad habit?

we all have our philosophies on the proper care of babies.... take the pacifier for instance, i was always against giving a baby the pacifier but until you are in a rough situation, you will pull out every trick in the book to soothe a baby, baby olivia that is... i have always read that the pacifier builds up gas in a babies stomach or later in life they will need braces because it pushes their front teeth forward... well the other day grandma and i were getting ready to run a few errands, so i made sure i fed and changed miss olivia (so she was good to go). all of sudden out of no where she began crying like someone was taking the life out of her. i was confused because she didn't need to change or eat...so that quickly and easily i broke down and gave her the pacifier for my own satisfaction....

what's your take on the pacifier? leave comments!

update on no sleeping: i am definitely getting sleep because i have given into the demands of miss olivia and allowing her to sleep on my chest, but now that she is a month old (big girl) we are finally going to start training her to sleep in her crib... starting today... and so far it's not working but i am not giving up...

education at it's finest

both orville and myself believe in giving our children (yes i said it, children, so olie will have a brother or sister one day) the best education possible... orville always says "if a child likes to read a lot he or she can do anything they put their minds to do." so he's starting her out early...

does anyone have any good education advice to share with the Thomas family? please leave them in the comments section...

let's talk

I think I am breaking her down! You can't see, but she has her hands folded over one another and she has a big pout on her face as she sits and listens to mommy talking about the importance of sleeping at night in her crib.

I think this it! My talk is working! or is she plotting out her next move?????

bags of tricks

So last night miss Olivia was not feeling well. She threw up a bit and I felt so bad to leave her in her crib alone. I told her she can sleep with mommy until she felt better.

Man, she has a bag of tricks. Mommy will have to call for back up!

swaddling doesn't work

Just an update on miss Olivia, remember yesterday I said no exceptions??????? Well miss Olivia slept from 9:30pm to about 12:30am. I fed and changed her, then the big test came, I put her in her crib and can you believe this little lady cried every five minutes. I would pick her up, rock her to sleep, feed or change as needed. i even tried swaddling her (like the hospital told me to) but this little girl is houdini... This took place until 5:11am. Finally I gave up and she was sleep in her favorite spot, on mommies chest. So it's Olivia-2, mommy-0

As a result of our late night, miss Olivia sleep all day, just waking to eat and change. We saw her eyes only once today. Talk about determination!

any suggestions?

no exceptions!!!!!

Olivia Isabel Thomas is our beautiful baby girl that we welcomed to our family on November 2, 2010.... we are so blessed to have her and we pray every night that the Lord will keep and protect her all the days of her life...

we have been on cloud nine with our newest addition, adjusting to a newborn's sleep schedule can be quite difficult....we have been trying to get miss olivia to sleep in her bassinet, crib, car seat....anywhere except for mommy's chest....

so last night (week two of having her home) i told olivia she had to sleep in her crib, no exceptions! As you can see she's smiling this morning! But tonight no exceptions :)
